Are you ready to start monitoring this season? Visit the MLMP website for activity refreshers and helpful "how-to" scenarios! Stay updated on when to expect milkweed and monarchs with Journey North's Monarch Butterfly Migration Map and First Milkweed Map. When you first spot milkweed at your site, you should start your weekly monitoring.

Thank you to everyone who submitted a report during the 2017 International Monarch Monitoring Blitz! 

Last summer, we asked citizen scientists to submit reports of monarchs and milkweed to MLMP during the 2017 International Monarch Monitoring Blitz. From July 29 - August 5, MLMP alone recieved approximately 300 reports! Because monarchs are so widespread throughout the continent, it is difficult to accurately capture the size of the breeding population before migration. The data from this blitz contirbutes to the Monarch Conservation Science Partnership's conservation research.

If you missed the blitz, or want to continute to contribute, check out our online training videos! Your regular monitoring data through MLMP are vital to monarch conservation research. Anytime you see a milkweed or monarch outside of your site, you can submit your observations as a 'Milkweed or Monarch Observation'.
